SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.

— SFArtsED supporters gathered at the San Francisco Conservatory last week for a fundraiser that included a concert version of the music from “Carousel,” performed by 70 singers ages 8 to 24 and 50 members of the UC
Berkeley Summer Symphony. Rodney Jackson, who’s in his second year at Carnegie Mellon and got his start at SFArtsED on scholarship, played Billy Bigelow; Julie was played by Patricia St. Peter, who just graduated from the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, and started at SFArtsED when she was 8. “It was so moving,” e-mailed Lynne Winslow, “to see the alumni performing lead roles while awestruck kids followed.”
