About the Artist: artist website
Lauren teaches visual art to seafarers at the California Polytechnical Institute Maritime Academy. Her art practice combines visual art and archival research to document the intersection of nature and human activity. Her projects have led her to abandoned hotels in the Tahitian jungle, Gold Rush ghost towns in California, through underground lava tunnels, ice caves, and across glaciers and multiple oceans. Oceans are a platform to discuss global issues, physically linking us all through international waters. She has taught art to ages 3-87 and loves working in all mediums.
This Third Saturday workshop is made possible with support from our friends at the law office of R. Michael Lieberman

SFArtsED is thrilled to present a series of free visual-arts workshops which will take place every Third Saturday of each month from 2–4 PM in the SFArtsED gallery at 1275 Minnesota Street. Taught by SFArtsED Artist Mentors, these making-oriented events are geared towards visitors of all ages who are interested in creative expression! From shadow puppet-making to paper-pulp sculpture and beyond, these workshops are a great way to learn about new art processes and techniques. Materials are provided and drop-ins are welcome.
