Performing Arts (for ages 9 -14) Site International Studies Academy 655 DeHaro St., San Francisco Broadway Adventure -- Introduction (For ages 9 - 12) Broadway Adventure focuses on the "triple threat" skills of singing, dancing and acting for young people with interest in musical theatre performance. Students study with a performing arts faculty of professional music and theater artists and participate in an informal show at the end of the session.
Broadway Bound -- Intermediate/Advanced (For ages 10-14) Broadway Bound challenges young people with strong interest in musical theatre to further refine their performance skills. Students study with a performing arts faculty comprised of professional music and theater artists and participate in an informal show at the end of the session. * Note: Students who have not participated in past SFArtsEd Summer Broadway Adventure or Musical Theater sessions must contact SFArtsEd Artistic Director Emily Keeler (415.551-7990) if they feel they have equivalent training for enrollment in Broadway Bound -- Intermediate/Advanced.
Musical Theater Production (For ages 10 - 14) During four weeks of intensive theatrical classes, auditions and rehearsals, young people with an interest in musical theatre production will prepare for a musical revue. Participation in this session is a precursor for consideration to the SFArtsEd Players musical theatre company. All participants can obtain a DVD or of their public performance for a lasting record of their accomplishments.

Visual and Literary Arts (For ages 9 - 14) Site International Studies Academy 655 DeHaro St., San Francisco VISUAL AND LITERARY ARTS Each two-week session engages the young artist in a comprehensive study of a specific art form under the direction of professional artists. Sessions include fashion design, illustration, cartooning and creative writing. Working alone or collectively, students in all sessions discover a variety of materials and artistic approaches to classic and emerging artforms. NEW!! ARTS A LA CARTE FOR AGES 9-12 Designed for 9-12 year old who wishes to explore a broad spectrum of visual arts, Arts A La Carte, will feature professional artists from a variety of arts disciplines who will each spend each day introducing young participants to painting, cartooning, sculpture, and other arts disciplines.

SFArtsEd Summer is pleased and honored to announce its dance staff for the camps Broadway Bound, Broadway Adventure and Musical Theater Production. We have four very exciting artists joining our already very strong staff of teacher/choreographers. These four new artists will join Natalie Greene and Emily Keeler who will teach and choreograph for Broadway Bound/Adventure and Musical Theater Production.
New to Broadway Bound/Broadway Adventure! Corrine Nagata and Dudley Brooks
After eight years in New York City, Corrine Nagata returns to her home town of San Francisco part time to create an active bi-costal teaching career! In New York she taught Horton technique at The Ailey School and for Jacques D’Amboise with the National Dance Institute. She is currently on faculty at LINES/BFA program in SF and at Dance Theatre of Harlem in NYC. She is a much sought after teacher for master classes for colleges, and has taught at Stanford, Mills, SF State and City College. Ms. Nagata has been a company member of two prominent Bay Area companies--Janice Garrett and Savage Jazz Dance Company and has also danced for several NYC based dance ensembles. Ms Nagata will teach dance technique for Broadway Bound and Broadway Adventure.
Dudley Brooks is the co-founder and artistic director of Run for Your Life! A dance company, for Voices/SF, and choreographer and stage director for Bay Area Youth Opera and TIE (Theater in Education). He was a performer for numerous prestigious Bay Area concert dance companies including Peninsula Ballet, Pacific Ballet, Dance Spectrum, and the San Francisco Opera Ballet. He has also danced free lance for many distinguished choreographers and also for the legendary Nikolais Dance Theater in New York City. Besides works for his own company, he has choreographed for opera and musicals throughout the Bay Area for adults and well as young people. Mr. Brooks joins the faculty for Broadway Bound and Broadway Adventure to create musical staging and choreography.
New to Musical Theater Production! Alex Sanchez and Charles Torres
Alex Sanchez has moved to the Bay Area after over ten years on Broadway to share with professional theaters and students his considerable skill and experience. Mr. Sanchez was a dancer and dance captain on Broadway for many shows including Chita Rivera/Dancer’s Life, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Wonderful Town, Fosse, Carousel, Big, the Musical and Follies, and many others. He also has had years of choreographic experience for the theater and musicals from the Chicago Opera House to the renowned Papermill Playhouse. His training was originally as a ballet dancer and he has taught a variety of dance styles as a guest artist for dance companies around the country. Mr. Sanchez will choreograph and teach dance classes for the Musical Theater Production’s musical revue.
Charles Torres as a dancer has performed many of the contemporary works of Balanchine and scores other 20th century choreographers as well as the full-length classics. Charles currently is a guest artist, teacher, and ballet master throughout the country. Since 1998, Charles has been a principal guest dancer with several Bay Area companies including Smuin Ballet/SF, San Francisco Opera Ballet, Peninsula Ballet Theatre, Diablo Ballet, and Company C and also Ballet West Arizona, Ballet Austin, The Carlisle Project, Chautauqua Ballet, and the Sacramento Ballet (for who he served as Ballet Master). He is currently on faculty at Stapleton School of Performing Arts as Ballet Master, where he stages both ballets and musical theater pieces, and at The Ballet Studio under Henry Berg in San Francisco. Mr. Torres will join the faculty as a choreographer for Musical Theater Production’s musical revue.
Ongoing Faculty - Natalie Greene and Emily Keeler
Natalie Greene has been a teacher and choreographer with the SFArtsEd Players, and in SFArtsEd school residencies and the summer intensives for five years. Ms. Greene is a performer for many notable choreographers in the Bay Area. She currently teaches dance technique at the ODC School, choreographs for School of the Arts High School, and is Adjunct Faculty at the University of San Francisco.
Emily Keeler has worked as a professional dancer and choreographer in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1975. She was a dancer and resident choreographer for the San Francisco Moving Company and a principal dancer for Cliff Keuter New Dance Company and the Joe Goode Performance Group. Ms. Keeler has choreographed dances for many concert dance companies including Joffrey Dancers, DanceArt Company, San Francisco Dance Theater, and Oakland Ballet. She has been the Artistic Director, producer and choreographer for SFArtsEd since 1985.
